Best Casino Bonuses 2026: Welcome Offers Compared

Welcome bonuses, free spins, wagering terms and how to spot real value.

Updated October 16, 2026

A casino bonus can be genuinely useful: it gives you more playing time, a cushion against a cold streak, and occasionally a real shot at keeping some winnings. But a headline like “200% up to 500” tells you almost nothing on its own. What matters is the fine print behind it: the wagering requirement, the maximum bet while a bonus is active, how different games count toward that wagering, and whether there is a cap on what you can cash out. This hub explains every one of those terms in plain EU-English, walks through the maths with a worked example, and lays out the best casino bonuses we currently rate. Everything here is written for players in Europe. Nothing on this page is aimed at UK players, and you should always check the rules in your own country first.

Top casino bonuses this month

The toplist above is ranked the way we rank everything on this site: licence first, fairness of terms second, and genuine value third. A bonus only earns a high placement if the headline offer is backed by terms a normal player can actually meet. We would rather recommend a smaller bonus with a 25x wagering requirement and no cashout cap than a huge headline number buried under 60x wagering, a tiny maximum bet, and a cap that quietly deletes most of your winnings.

When you read the list, train yourself to look past the big percentage. Two offers can advertise “100% up to 200” and be worth wildly different amounts in practice. The one that counts slots at 100% toward wagering, lets you bet a sensible amount per spin, and has a reasonable time limit is the one that gives you a real chance. The one with 40x wagering, a one-euro max bet, and a seven-day expiry is mostly decoration. The whole point of the bonus value concept is to turn that marketing number into something you can compare honestly, and that is exactly what the next section does.

Every casino we feature holds a licence from a recognised European regulator, such as the Malta Gaming Authority or another EU or EEA authority. We explain our full scoring method on our how we rate casinos page, and you can see our broader shortlist of operators on our best online casinos page. If you are not ready to deposit at all yet, our no deposit bonus and free spins no deposit pages cover offers that let you try a site with no money down.

Bonus value calculator: the maths behind the headline

The single most useful skill for a bonus hunter is the ability to estimate what a bonus is actually worth before you claim it. You do not need a spreadsheet. You need three numbers and one idea. The three numbers are the bonus amount, the wagering requirement, and the game’s return to player (RTP). The idea is that wagering requirements force you to bet a large total amount, and every bet you make hands a small, predictable slice back to the house.

The core formula

When a casino says a bonus carries “35x wagering”, it means you must place total bets equal to 35 times a defined amount before the bonus and any winnings become real, withdrawable cash. The first thing to check is what the multiplier applies to. There are two common models:

  • Bonus-only wagering: you must wager 35 times the bonus amount. This is the player-friendly version.
  • Deposit plus bonus wagering: you must wager 35 times the combined deposit and bonus. This is much harder, because the total you have to turn over is far larger.

The difference is enormous, so always confirm which model applies. Below we assume bonus-only wagering unless stated, because that is what the better EU casinos offer.

A worked example

Imagine you deposit 100 and receive a 100% match, giving you a 100 bonus. The terms say 35x wagering on the bonus. That means:

Total wagering required = 100 bonus x 35 = 3,500 in total bets.

Now bring in the RTP. Suppose you play a slot with a 96% RTP. By definition, a 96% RTP means the game is expected to return 96 for every 100 wagered over the long run, so the expected cost to the house edge is 4% of every bet. Over 3,500 of total bets, your expected loss to the house edge is:

3,500 x 4% = 140 expected cost to clear the wagering.

So to unlock a 100 bonus you are expected to feed roughly 140 back through the house edge. On a pure expected-value basis this particular bonus is slightly negative: you receive 100 but it costs you around 140 of expected losses to free it. That does not make it worthless, because variance is real and plenty of players clear wagering while still ahead, but it shows you why a 35x bonus on a 96% game is only marginal value, and why a 60x bonus on the same game would be clearly bad.

Flip the numbers to see a good bonus. Take the same 100 bonus with 25x wagering on a 97% RTP slot:

Total wagering = 100 x 25 = 2,500. Expected cost = 2,500 x 3% = 75.

Now the expected cost to clear (75) is well below the bonus value (100), so this offer is genuinely positive on paper. The two variables that moved everything were the wagering multiplier and the RTP. A lower multiplier and a higher RTP game turn a mediocre bonus into a good one.

How game weighting changes the picture

There is a catch the raw formula ignores: game weighting, which we explain in detail further down. If table games contribute only 10% toward wagering, then every 10 you bet on roulette only counts as 1 toward the requirement. Clearing 3,500 of weighted wagering on a 10%-weighted game means betting 35,000 in reality, and the house edge grinds against all of it. This is why slots, which usually count at 100%, are almost always the correct choice for clearing a bonus, even though their RTP is often a point or two lower than a well-played table game.

Factoring in the cashout cap

Finally, adjust for any cashout cap, often expressed as a multiple of the bonus or deposit. If a no-deposit bonus caps withdrawals at 100, then no matter how lucky you get, 100 is the ceiling. A bonus with great wagering but a punishing cap can be worth less than a modest bonus with no cap at all. Always run the cap through your head before you celebrate a big win on bonus funds.

Types of casino bonus

Casino bonuses come in a handful of recognisable shapes. Knowing which is which helps you pick the offer that fits how you actually play rather than the one with the loudest banner.

Welcome bonus

The welcome bonus, or sign-up bonus, is the offer new players see first. It is usually a deposit match, such as 100% up to 200, sometimes split across your first few deposits as a welcome package. Match bonuses are the workhorses of the industry. The important variables are the match percentage, the maximum bonus, the wagering requirement, and whether wagering applies to the bonus only or to deposit plus bonus. A generous match with brutal wagering is often worse than a modest match with fair terms.

Reload bonus

A reload bonus is a match offer for existing players, designed to reward you for topping up your balance again. Reloads are typically smaller than the welcome offer, perhaps 50% up to 100, and often appear on a fixed day of the week or as part of a promotions calendar. They are worth tracking because the wagering on reloads is frequently lower than on the welcome bonus, which can make them better value per euro than the headline sign-up deal.

Cashback

Cashback returns a percentage of your net losses over a defined period, such as 10% of weekly losses. It is the most defensive bonus type, and it is often the fairest, because good cashback comes with low or zero wagering and is paid as real cash rather than restricted bonus funds. Always check two things: whether cashback is calculated on net losses (deposits minus withdrawals) and whether it is wager-free. Wager-free cashback is one of the genuinely player-friendly promotions in the market, and it suits cautious players far better than a big match bonus does.

Free spins

Free spins give you a set number of spins on specified slots, with winnings usually paid as bonus funds subject to wagering. The real value depends on the spin value (many are set at the minimum, such as 0.10 per spin), the wagering on winnings, and any cap. Free spins attached to a deposit tend to be more generous than no-deposit spins, which almost always carry low caps. If you want to try sites without depositing, our free spins no deposit page collects those offers and explains their limits.

VIP and loyalty rewards

VIP or loyalty programmes reward sustained play with points, tier upgrades, personalised reloads, faster withdrawals, and sometimes a dedicated host. These schemes can carry real value for regular players, but they are also where the most money is spent, so treat them as a convenience for play you were going to do anyway, never as a reason to play more than you planned. The best loyalty schemes are transparent about how points convert to cash and what each tier actually unlocks.

Crypto and currency-specific bonuses

Some casinos offer larger or differently structured bonuses for deposits made in cryptocurrency, often with faster payouts. These can be attractive, but the same rules apply: check the wagering, the weighting, and the cap. Volatility in the underlying coin adds a layer of risk that euro play does not have. Our crypto casinos page covers how these sites work and what to watch for.

Bonus terms explained

The terms attached to a bonus are where its real value lives. Four of them do most of the heavy lifting: the wagering requirement, the maximum bet, game weighting, and expiry. Learn these four and you can read almost any offer in under a minute.

Wagering requirement

The wagering requirement (also called the playthrough or rollover) is the total amount you must bet before bonus funds and their winnings convert to withdrawable cash. It is expressed as a multiplier: 30x, 35x, 40x and so on. Lower is better. As the worked example showed, the multiplier directly scales both the effort and the expected cost of clearing a bonus. Always confirm whether the multiplier applies to the bonus alone or to deposit plus bonus, because the latter roughly doubles the work on a 100% match.

Maximum bet

The max bet rule caps how much you can stake on a single bet or spin while a bonus is active, commonly 5 per spin. Breaching it is one of the most common reasons winnings are confiscated, and it is easy to do by accident if you forget to lower your stake after a bonus activates. The rule exists to stop players clearing wagering in a few huge bets, but it catches honest players too. Set your stake under the cap and leave it there until the bonus is fully wagered.

Game weighting

Game weighting (or game contribution) defines how much each type of game counts toward wagering. Slots typically count 100%. Table games, video poker, and live dealer games often count far less, sometimes 10% or even 0%. Some casinos also exclude specific high-RTP slots entirely. Weighting is the quiet killer of bonus value: a 40x bonus that excludes your favourite game, or counts it at 10%, can be effectively impossible to clear. Read the weighting table before you deposit, not after.

Expiry and time limits

Bonuses expire. You may have 7, 14, or 30 days to meet the wagering requirement, and free spins often expire within 24 hours of being credited. If the clock runs out, the bonus and any associated winnings are usually removed. A short expiry combined with high wagering is a red flag, because it pressures you to bet faster and larger than is sensible. Favour offers with at least 14 days and a wagering requirement you can realistically clear in that window without chasing.

Cashout cap

The cashout cap (or max win) limits how much you can withdraw from a bonus, often as a multiple of the bonus or deposit, such as “max win 5x bonus”. It is most common on no-deposit offers and free spins. A cap is not automatically unfair, but it must be weighed against everything else. A bonus that lets you win big but caps the payout at a small figure is worth exactly that small figure, no matter what the slot pays.

Sticky vs non-sticky bonuses

One distinction separates genuinely useful bonuses from ones that can quietly cost you money: whether the bonus is sticky or non-sticky. It is worth understanding properly, because it changes how your own deposit behaves.

What a sticky bonus is

A sticky bonus cannot itself be withdrawn. It stays attached to your balance as “phantom” funds you can play with but never cash out. When you eventually withdraw, the sticky bonus amount is removed and only your winnings above it leave your account. With a sticky bonus, your deposit and the bonus are blended, so if you try to withdraw early you may lose value, because the casino strips the bonus portion and sometimes voids winnings tied to it. Sticky bonuses can offer larger headline amounts, but they tie up your own money until wagering is complete.

What a non-sticky bonus is

A non-sticky bonus (sometimes called a parachute or separated bonus) keeps your deposit and the bonus in separate buckets. You play with your real cash first. If you win while still on your own money, you can withdraw at any time with no wagering attached, because you never actually touched the bonus. The bonus only activates if you lose your deposit, at which point the wagering requirement kicks in. This is the player’s favourite structure, because it gives you the upside of a bonus as a safety net while preserving your freedom to cash out real winnings whenever you like.

Why it matters in practice

Say you deposit 100 and claim a 100 bonus. With a non-sticky bonus, you play your 100 first. Hit a good run to 400 and you can withdraw the lot immediately, bonus untouched. Only if your 100 runs out does the 100 bonus activate with its wagering. With a sticky bonus, the two pots are merged from the start, so even an early win is locked behind the full wagering requirement before a cent can leave. For most players, non-sticky bonuses are the better deal, which is why we flag the bonus type clearly whenever we review an offer.

Bonus abuse rules to avoid

Casinos impose rules to stop systematic bonus abuse, and falling foul of them, even by accident, is the fastest way to have winnings voided. None of this is about playing badly; it is about staying inside the terms you agreed to. Here are the ones that catch honest players most often.

  • Exceeding the max bet. As covered above, staking more than the per-spin limit while a bonus is active is the number-one cause of confiscated winnings. Lower your stake the moment a bonus is credited.
  • Prohibited games and strategies. Many terms ban clearing wagering on excluded games, or using low-risk “equal bet” strategies on roulette (such as covering red and black) to grind turnover with minimal risk. Doing this voids the bonus.
  • Multiple accounts. One account per person, household, and IP address is the universal rule. Opening second accounts to claim a welcome bonus again is treated as fraud and leads to closures and withheld funds.
  • Bonus stacking and chaining. Claiming a new bonus while one is still in progress, or hopping between offers to avoid wagering, is usually prohibited. Finish or forfeit one bonus before claiming the next.
  • Mismatched or shared payment details. Depositing and withdrawing with methods in someone else’s name, or sharing cards across accounts, will trigger verification holds. Keep everything in your own name.
  • Irregular play patterns. Sudden switches to maximum stakes right before a withdrawal, or play that looks engineered purely to exploit a specific offer, can be flagged under general “irregular play” clauses.

The honest player’s defence is simple: read the terms once, play normally, keep your stake under the max bet, and use one account in your own name. Do that and the anti-abuse rules will never trouble you. Completing identity verification (KYC) early, before you try to withdraw, also removes the single most common cause of payout delays.

Responsible gambling and help

A bonus is marketing. It is designed to encourage you to deposit and play, and it works precisely because extra funds feel like free value. Keeping that in perspective is the most important skill on this entire page. Bonuses should extend entertainment you have already budgeted for, never become a reason to spend more than you planned or to chase losses in the hope of clearing wagering.

Set a deposit limit and a time limit before you play, and treat them as fixed. Every licensed EU casino provides responsible gambling tools built into your account: deposit limits, loss limits, session reminders, cooling-off periods, and self-exclusion. Use them proactively rather than waiting until play stops being fun. If you ever feel the activation of a bonus is pushing you to play faster or stake higher than you are comfortable with, that is a sign to walk away from the offer entirely. The bonus is not worth it.

Gambling must only ever be done with money you can afford to lose, and it is for adults aged 18 and over only (21 in some countries). If gambling is no longer fun, or you are worried about yourself or someone close to you, free and confidential help is available. Our responsible gambling page lists support organisations and explains the tools in detail. You can also contact a national helpline in your country for free, independent support. For how licensing and player protection work across the continent, see our guide to online casino legality in Europe.

18+. Please gamble responsibly. Gambling can be addictive.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good wagering requirement?

As a rule of thumb, a wagering requirement of 30x or below on the bonus amount is good, 35x is average, and anything 45x or above is poor value unless the rest of the terms are exceptional. The number only tells half the story, though. A 30x requirement that applies to deposit plus bonus is effectively harder than a 40x requirement on the bonus alone, and a low multiplier means little if game weighting excludes the slots you want to play. The best bonuses pair a low multiplier with 100% slot weighting, a sensible max bet, at least 14 days to clear, and no restrictive cashout cap. Wager-free offers, such as good cashback, are the gold standard because there is no requirement at all.

Can I withdraw a bonus?

Not immediately, and in some cases not at all. With most bonuses you must first meet the wagering requirement; only then do the bonus and any winnings become withdrawable cash. With a sticky bonus, the bonus amount itself can never be withdrawn, even after wagering, only the winnings above it leave your account. With a non-sticky bonus, you can withdraw your own deposit and real-money winnings at any time, but once the bonus activates its winnings are locked behind wagering. The practical answer: you can withdraw winnings generated from a bonus once you have cleared the terms, stayed within the max bet, and passed identity verification. Try to withdraw before clearing wagering and the bonus funds are typically removed.

What is a non-sticky bonus?

A non-sticky bonus keeps your deposit and your bonus in two separate pots. You play with your real money first, and if you win during that phase you can cash out immediately with no wagering attached, because you never used the bonus. The bonus only comes into play, with its wagering requirement, if you lose your original deposit. In effect it works like a safety net: you keep full control of real winnings while still having extra funds in reserve if your own money runs out. This is widely considered the fairest and most player-friendly bonus structure, which is why we highlight whenever an offer is non-sticky.
